Complex Trauma – Understanding the Link Between Mental Illness and Childhood Trauma: Alternative Approaches to Clinical Practice
This 2-Day workshop will introduce participants to a number of techniques from psychodrama which can be creatively used in the work they do with clients who have a history of complex trauma Safety is a priority when working with clients who have developed a number of strategies in childhood to manage their sense of feeling and being unsafe.
Objectives
- gain understanding about psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual impact of complex trauma
- increase awareness about the link between trauma and mental illness (research from neuroscience)
- understand the relationship between mental illness and trauma
- describe the importance and influence of the stress system in terms of psychological trauma and mental illness
- identify strategies to utilise when working with individuals who have a history of complex trauma
- identify own coping strategies when working with individuals who have a history of complex trauma
